Ballybeg Farm Shop

Ballybeg Farm Shop was opened in October 2012 by Val Brennan and his wife Alison at Dernagarra near Collinstown. Ballybeg gets its name from a hurling club which was associated with the farm back as far back as the 1920’s.

Val has been farming at Derrnagarra for over 12 years and is a Bord Bia certified producer of beef. He was looking at options to diversify and felt that a Farm Shop selling his own produce would be a good idea. He approached Westmeath Community Development with a view to seeking support from the Rural Development (LEADER) Programme and was awarded funding for this new venture.

“At Ballybeg beg all our beef comes from our farm and following slaughter it is hung for 24 days in order to achieve natural maturation and tenderness. We are also committed in sourcing and supplying our customer with local produced produce at affordable prices. Sourcing local suppliers is important to us all especially in these hard economic times” outlined Val.

Opening times are from 9am -6pm Mon – Sat. Ballybeg offers a wide and extensive range of quality beef (all from the farm), pork chicken lamb, bacon and including a range of artisan products which compliments customer needs. Val and Alison also cater for all occasions and provide a delivery service free for orders over €50.
